Would any of you guys be interested in this type of hunt? the state of N.C. issues 5000 Tundra Swan permits per year. Guide services are very reasonable. My friend stayed at a lodge on Lake Mattamuskeet in Hyde Co. N.C.

Hyde County, NC is in the heart of the Atlantic Flyway and is the primary wintering ground for Siberian, Canadian, and Alaskan Tundra Swan; but it is perhaps second only (east coast, that is) to the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland for most quantities of ducks common to North America.
The impoundment we hunt provides guide services for all types of waterfowl hunts. The day of our hunt (Jan. 4th, '07), blinds within sight of ours took numerous Mallards, Teals, Widgeons, Pintails, and a few Black Ducks. I understand that some folks do, in fact, have a hangup about shooting swan, as they are beautiful; although, I wonder how many of these few have actually tasted the meat--the best of all waterfowl by far. Insofaras the beauty of waterfowl is concerned, I am of the opinion that the Wood Duck drake is the most beautiful creature in ALL of nature. Well, maybe Swedish women would be close. |
