Default Trapping.......anyone?

Glad To Finally Make It Over From Nchuntnfish.com. I Do Alot Of Trapping Down Here In Nc And Was Wondering If Ya'll Go After Critters Up There? We Are Loaded Down With Grey Fox Down Here With The Coyotes Moving In Quick. If You Do Any Trapping What Are You After, What Kind Of Traps Are Used, What Are Some Favorite Sets?

Default Don't know any...

I personally don't know anyone here in Meade Co that traps on a regular basis. There are a few coon hunters around and a good many coyote hunters. We have a a good population of beaver along the Ohio River but no one traps them that I know of.

I Bet There Are A Few Beaver On The Ohio, I've Also Heard There Are Some Monster Catfish In There As Well. With The Beaver Prices Being Like They Are It Has Gotten The Same Way Down Here. I Do Alot Of Beaver Trapping But It Is Mostly Damage Control Work.

I know some guys at my work that trap coyotes, but I dont do any.
One time when I was a kid me and some freinds set out a trap and caught a skunk.
When we checked it the next morning he was still alive and he was pissed!!
This story gets pretty brutal. We didnt have a gun so we beat it to death with sticks and rocks.
Of course we stank to high heaven, and our parents werent to happy either.
I think it went something like this. What the @&!! do you think you are doing!!! (SMACK)
Dont you (SMACK) ever do that again!!! (SMACK,SMACK) That was pretty much the end of our trapping days.

If My First Experience Was Like That I Think I Would Give It Up Too. I Ended Up With 24 Skunks This Past Season But I Use A 22 To The Lungs, Most Of The Times When They Are Hit In The Lungs They Will Not Spray.(i Did Say Most Of The Time) Alot Of The Guys Down Here Will Sneek Up On Them With A Syringe Pole And Pop Them In The Lungs And Then Remove The Essence From The Sacks And Sell It At Around $20 An Ounce. For Now I Will Leave That To Them.
